One man's trash in another man's treasure Five short years ago, Robin and I did not even have 00 in our Emergency Fund. Why?? Because we had credit cards and equity in our home. In Dave Ramsey's book, Total Money Makeover, he talks about seven baby steps with # 1 being establishing a 00 emergency fund and I believe if you earn over 0000 per year it should be 00. We will discuss five ways to sell your stuff and get that emergency fund quickly. Let's start thinking about what we could sell. 1. Items in your spare bedrooms or basement 2. Old Electronics 3. Jewelry 4. Kitchen appliances -- How about that 0 juicer you just bought and only juiced for one week?? 5. Items in your garage 6. Exercise Equipment 7. Kids toys 8. Clothes 9. Collectables -- My good friend, John Kulisich sold his baseball card collection for the down payment on his first home 10. Outdoor equipment to include: Boats, motorcycles, bikes, tools, hunting gear, fishing gear and the list goes on. Here are five suggestions on how to sell your stuff in order of most profit to you. 1. Ebay -- The world's largest auction site. A private seller uses Ebay 's website and lists their item. If it is listed in auction, you can view the item and see how much it is going for and when the time ends. If you don't really want to spend the time to take pictures of the item, open a paypal account, take care of packaging and shipping, then consider taking your items to an Ebay powerseller in your area.
